Smriti Mandhana: A Star in WPL 2025 and Women's Cricket Legacy

Smriti Mandhana: A Star in WPL 2025

Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian women's cricket team, recently achieved a significant milestone by playing her 100th One-Day International (ODI) match during the Women's Tri-Nation Series 2025 against Sri Lanka. She became only the seventh Indian woman to reach this landmark, joining an elite group led by Mithali Raj. In her 100 ODIs, Mandhana has amassed 4,306 runs, including 10 centuries and 30 half-centuries .

In recognition of her outstanding performances, Mandhana was honored as the Women's Leading Cricketer in the World in the 2025 edition of the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. This accolade came after a prolific 2024 season, where she scored five centuries—four in ODIs—and led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first Women's Premier League (WPL) title .

However, the WPL 2025 season proved challenging for Mandhana and her team. RCB struggled to maintain their form, finishing second-last in the league standings. Mandhana faced personal challenges as well, recording one of the slowest innings in WPL history with a 20-ball 10-run performance against Gujarat Giants .
