Missile Strike Near Ben Gurion Airport

A ballistic missile launched by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels struck near Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel. The missile exploded near Terminal 3, causing a large crater and injuring at least eight people. The explosion led to a temporary suspension of flights and ground transportation at the airport.

Despite Israel's Iron Dome defense system typically having a 96% success rate, it failed to intercept the missile, marking a rare lapse. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack, citing their support for Palestinians in Gaza, where tensions have been rising due to renewed Israeli military operations.

In the aftermath, several airlines, including Air India, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and Wizz Air, suspended their flights to and from Israel. Wizz Air announced a 48-hour suspension of all flights to Israel. Although the airport resumed operations about an hour after the attack, delays in takeoffs and landings were expected. This incident has heightened regional tensions and raised concerns about the security of air travel in the Middle East.
